Experiment No. 02
TheCabinet of Remedies
Three compounds for three disturbances of the summer spirit. No longer available for purchase.
Not certain which applies?
The Society has prepared a short diagnostic. Six questions. The compound will identify itself.

Compound No. I
Archived
Melancholia
Arising from an Excess of Black Bile in the Spleen
For the persistent heaviness of spirit. The curtain drawn on an otherwise ordinary afternoon. The remedy does not wait for you to feel like it. That is the point.
Compound No. II
Archived
Vague Unease
of Unknown Origin · Neurasthenic in Character
For the persistent sense that something is wrong, though nothing specifically is wrong. The remedy does not resolve the unease. It gives it a name. A named thing is smaller than an unnamed thing.
Compound No. III
Archived
Summertime Sadness
Lacrimae Rerum · The Tears Inherent in Beautiful Things
For the specific sorrow of things being exactly as good as they are supposed to be. Virgil called this lacrimae rerum. The feeling is not a malfunction.
Submit Your Account
Should one of the Society's compounds have proved its merit upon you — whether acquired by post or encountered in the wild — we invite your written account of it. A complimentary curiosity shall be dispatched to those who write.
